My Story

I grew up in Bulgaria and Japan, completed by college degree and started my career in the UK, and did my masters in the US, so I felt that the internationally diverse UMT team is a natural fit for me.

I joined UMT’s NYC office as an entry-level Consultant after graduating from Columbia University with a Masters in International Finance and Business. My prior background and experience in banking and financial services and solid understanding of emerging markets helped me add value to international UMT clients in the areas of financial management for capital projects. While at UMT, I’ve had the chance to work with Fortune 500 clients and lead cross-functional teams in financial services, telecoms, pharmaceuticals and consumer goods. My work also gave me the invaluable opportunity to travel extensively in Europe, Asia and the Americas. The solutions I provided for my clients covered PMO design, resource capacity management, business intelligence, capital optimization, change management, business process transformation among others. As I grew through the ranks at UMT I became first a member of the Future Leadership Team where most internal improvement projects are originated and managed, and then the Senior Management Team. I became a passionate advocate for corporate-wide coaching and mentoring, as well as the advancement of women in consulting. Today I lead the UMT Corporate Mentorship Program and chair Women@UMT, an employee resource group.

Value Creation

The UMT project I am most proud of is leading a team to transform the way a Fortune 100 global food manufacturer plans and manages its capital investments for optimal results.

This was a multi-year initiative which ended up being rolled out globally and became the backbone of how the client plans, approves, tracks and optimizes their annual capital budget globally. During the course of the project, the client went through numerous organizational restructuring, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, but UMT remained a trusted strategic partner and was able to continuously add value to the client organization. My proudest day at UMT was when my client of several years finally concluded that now I can read his mind and propose solutions even before he requests them. That day I knew I had won his trust and the hard work had paid off.
