The UMT Institute EPM Corporate Training Program

Setting the Goals:

Each organization has a strategic vision. If your vision involves utilizing all or parts of the Microsoft EPM solution as a tool of choice for your Enterprise Program and Project planning and management needs, then a high level of proficiency with these tools is a cornerstone to the realization of that vision.

Setting training goals is primarily about people. It is critical to identify the roles that people will play and what skills they will require to effectively fulfill their respective roles. Once the skills needed are identified and mapped to the organization roles, the needs assessment can be used to evaluate the precise training requirements.

Assessing the Needs

Each role in the organization will require a specific skill-set, thus a training curriculum should be developed to cater to those specific needs and to hone the desired skills. For example, if your Project Management process is based on the PMI principles, you will want to use relevant criteria in assessing the training needs.

Designing a Training Program

An effective training program should be designed with organizational strategic goals in mind. The key is to enable each individual to rapidly attain the skills required by their role in a structured manner and with measurable results. In most cases this can be accomplished with a moderate set of targeted courses. Each role can be fitted with a unique curriculum involving various combinations of available courses.
