Last week, Frank LaRocca, ConEd's Director of Business Improvement Services and head of their Enterprise PMO (EPMO), presented on their capital investment governance and PMO strategies in a 1-hour webinar.
LaRocca presented the solution designed and implemented by the UMT team - "Portfolio Intelligence 360", or PI360. Its focus is on the monthly and annual governance process, project prioritization, portfolio optimization and detailed financial management. The technology portion of the solution is based on Microsoft Project Server 2013 and UMT360 software.
A key component of PI360 is the monthly "Sweep" process - where projects seek sanctioned approval of funding releases and requests, and funds are shifted across the portfolio. Frank reviewed the process and the supporting reports and analytics that help ConEd's governance committees make their informed decisions. In total, the ConEd EPMO helps the company oversee the approval and spending of over $2 billion in capital projects annually!
