HIMSS webinar

Last month, Carlos Escobar, the VP of Information Systems at Florida Hospital, shared how they accomplished his mission of reducing the per-person cost of healthcare with a successful IT PMO.

How can you better achieve your organization’s strategic IT priorities? With enhanced project portfolio management, strategic planning and better project and program execution.

In this webinar hosted by HIMSS on 4/30/15, Florida Hospital shared how it successfully standardized its IT PMO and enhanced enterprise performance as a result. By investing in project portfolio visibility and standards it was able to enhance process excellence in pursuit of better community-based, cost effective healthcare.

“As an organization and community partner we are laser-focused on reducing the per-person cost of healthcare,” says Carlos Escobar, who heads up the PMO in his role as assistant vice president of business systems and IT shared services. “The percentage of GDP that depends on healthcare today in this country is unsustainable, and we have to play a leading role in changing that.”

For Escobar and his team, achieving maximum efficiency and quality within IT enterprise was a journey, and they knew the PMO was the first step. UMT Partner Daniel Theander adds, “It was clear from the start that there was a broad vision and understanding of how an effective PMO could benefit the wider organization and, ultimately, support the Triple Aim.”
